The legend about her life and poetry was passed down in oral tradition and official references were found only about four hundred years after her death. During her lifetime, various currents of some of the central spiritual teachings of the East intersected in Kashmir. Lala did not belong to any of them. Her path is characterized by an inner search and experiential experience, and does not obey dogma or ancient texts.
